Temporary restriction of the export of scrap and waste metals from the territory of the country is a tactical measure

Turar Zholmaganbet, Deputy Chairman of the Industrial Development Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at a briefing in the Central Communications Service spoke about the problems of transporting scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. According to him, the temporary restriction of the export of scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals from the territory of the country is a tactical measure. And the strategy is the policy of industrialization, which has been implemented in the country since 2010.

“Among the main tasks is the deep processing of raw materials to finished products, as the main tool for moving away from a resource-dependent economy. Raw materials here mean minerals extracted from oil and gas, metals, as well as scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. What do we get from scrap? These are aluminum radiators for heating, window profiles, car rims, cables and wires. Copper cables and wires, cash coins, brass and bronze alloys. Lead batteries for starting car engines, alloys. From steel, we, in the country, receive fittings for the construction of housing and infrastructure facilities, nails, pipes for the oil and gas industry and other complex products for the railway, mining and metallurgical complex, oil and gas engineering,” the representative of the department said.
