Media contest winners will go on internships to Brussels and Bishkek.
Zoltan Salai, who is Head of the Policy, Press and Information Department of the European Union Office in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Makhabbat Yessen, who is Head of the Center of Competence in the Media Area of the “Management Company, Kazmedia Ortalygy” LLP, Elnara Baynazarova, press secretary of the European Union Office in the Republic of Kazakhstan, they told about this at a press conference in the CCS. The representation of the European Union in the Republic of Kazakhstan together with the Center of Competence in the Media Area and with the support of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan summed up the competition for professional international internships for Kazakhstan journalists “European Union - Kazakhstan: strengthening Media Partnership”.
As Makhabbat Yessen noted, the competition is aimed at expanding and strengthening relations between the European Union and the Republic of Kazakhstan, at forming an open dialogue and raising awareness about the European Union in the media community of Kazakhstan.
“Applications were received from March 28 to April 30 of the current year. During the period of the competition, 47 papers were received from representatives of the media in Kazakh, Russian and English, devoted to current aspects of cooperation between the European Union and Kazakhstan. 26 entries entered the short-list of the competent jury, which answered all the requirements in accordance with the Competition Regulations, ”- she said.
Zoltan Salai said that according to the jury results, four winners were awarded internships in the cities of Brussels (Belgium) and Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan). “Participants will be expected to visit European institutions like the European Parliament, the EU Council, the European Commission, the European External Relations Service and familiarity with the work of the journalistic pool in Brussels. Also during the visit, participants will highlight European Development Days 2019, the EU-Central Asia ministerial meeting, the EU-Central Asia Forum and will have the opportunity to meet with EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, ”- he added.
