The population of the Earth is growing annually. The issues of overcoming global challenges associated with growing hunger and malnutrition require significant efforts to strengthen the partnership in food security between countries.

Kairat Najmidenov, head of the Bureau of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAOUN), on relations and partnership in the Republic of Kazakhstan, an economist, told at the meeting of the Astana Economic Forum.

“The situation is changing, the times of green revolutions are coming to an end. The green revolution is when we used mineral fertilizers to increase the productivity of agriculture and food. Now we need to be more careful with land, water, and forest resources in order to produce more food, but at the same time we save those resources that must be left for our future generations. Because according to our data, in 2025 the population will literally reach up to 10 billion people, that is, it will increase by about 30-35% than it is now. According to our calculations, it is necessary to increase food by 50%. Already, we are approaching the level when resources are depleted. Therefore, we need to apply green technologies, resource-saving technologies that allow us to use them carefully. We also discussed food security issues and issues related to sustainable development. Kazakhstan in this regard is one of the leaders in the region because it produces grain and is among the top grain producers in the world,” he said.
