First of all, Alikhan Smailov visited the cultural center named after the prominent public and political figure, Abish Kekilbayev.

It should be noted, that the opening of the monument to Abish Kekilbayev and the new building of the regional museum took place in October 2019, with the participation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. For several years, museum staff have been collecting materials, photographs and documents about the life and work of the writer, which are now presented in various thematic expositions.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan laid flowers at the writer's monument and got acquainted with the work of the new cultural center.

Further, the Head of Government got acquainted with the work of the desalination plant "Kaspii", which is one of the most important sources of water supply for the inhabitants of the region.

The plant uses reverse osmosis technology to desalinate sea water - the most environmentally friendly method used at orbital space stations and sites of the Baikonur cosmodrome. At the plant, water is purified from radioactive particles, bacteria, viruses and other impurities, while preserving natural salts and minerals.

Today, construction and installation work is being carried out at the plant as part of its expansion project, which will increase productivity to 40 thousand cubic meters. m of water per day. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.

“The issue of water supply is one of the most urgent for the region, especially in summer. From year to year there is a lack of capacity of desalination plants. In this regard, the Government allocated more than 12 billion tenge for the modernization of the plant in order to double its productivity. This issue is under the control of the Head of State. All work must be carried out with high quality and on time,” the Prime Minister stressed.

Then, Alikhan Smailov visited the only enterprise in Kazakhstan for the production of ammonia and ammonium nitrate JSC "KazAzot", where he took part in the launch ceremony of a new neutralization and evaporation department.

It is expected that the new facility will allow the company to additionally produce up to 415 thousand tons of products per year. 6.3 billion tenge of private investment was allocated for the implementation of the project.

The Prime Minister noted that the Government is taking comprehensive measures to stimulate the industrial development of the country. In particular, JSC KazAzot has repeatedly received support under various government programs. The company continues to invest in the modernization of existing production and introduce the latest technologies. New jobs are created at the plant, training and retraining of specialists is carried out.

“Given the specifics of the region, the presence of its own raw material potential in the form of natural gas will allow the company to further develop the production of mineral fertilizers to meet the needs of agricultural producers. The Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development, together with the regional akimat, should strengthen support for KazAzot in order to ensure the creation of jobs and the release of new products,” said Alikhan Smailov.

The next point of the Prime Minister's working trip was a visit to the Aktau Commercial Sea Port, which is located on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea at the intersection of several international transport corridors.

The port provides transportation of goods from east to west, from north to south and back in the direction of Iran, Turkey, Russia and Azerbaijan. This is the largest transport hub in the Caspian.

On behalf of the Head of State, it is planned to build a container hub on the basis of the port of Aktau on an area of at least 19 hectares. Many foreign companies are showing interest in the project, which involves increasing the capacity of dry-cargo berths, which creates prerequisites for the seaport to become a major hub for container fleet and service.

“The Mangistau region has a huge transport, logistics, infrastructure and service potential of international importance. At the same time, the possibilities of the country's seaports are not fully used, and the average load is only 21%. This situation needs to be changed. The Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development, together with Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC, needs to work out the issue of increasing the load on the seaports of Aktau and Kuryk by sending export cargo along the Trans-Caspian international transport route,” said Alikhan Smailov.

The Prime Minister also got acquainted with the progress of construction of objects of the tourist zone in the region, including the resort and hotel complex Aqualina Resort, the Double Tree by Hilton hotel and the Fairmont hotel in the shopping arcade.

Thanks to the launch of new facilities, it is planned to double the flow of tourists to the region and create thousands of new jobs.
