In 2020, the number of RES facilities is planned to increase by more than 2 times, reports ortcom.kz.

“In the renewable energy sector, in 2018, five renewable energy facilities were commissioned in Mangistau, Zhambyl, Almaty and Karaganda regions. The largest is 50 MW "Burnoye Solar-2" and 100 MW Solar station in the city of Saran. Thus, 67 renewable energy facilities with a capacity of 531 MW operate in the country today, ”the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev informed during a press conference in the CCS about the results of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan for 2018 and the tasks for 2019.

However, he said that in 2019 it is planned to introduce 16 objects of renewable energy with a total capacity of 629 MW.

“In 2020, the number of RES facilities is planned to increase by more than 2 times. 124 facilities with a total capacity of 2353 MW will operate. This year we held the first international auctions, where 36 RES projects with a total capacity of 858 MW were selected. 113 companies from 9 countries took part in the auctions. Following the auction, 30 companies won, with which a 15-year contract for the purchase of electricity will be signed, ”the minister said.

Kanat Bozumbayev noted that in the auction auction, electricity tariffs for wind stations were reduced by an average of 12%, and solar tariffs by 35%.

“We will continue the practice of auctions. And taking into account the reduction in the cost of renewable energy technologies, the degree of influence on tariffs for consumers will decrease in the future, ”K. Bozumbayev said.
