“The driver of the economy of the Almaty region is the agro-industrial complex. Today, the region provides 17% of the total republican gross agricultural output, ”said Almaty oblast akim Amandyk Batalov in the Central Communications Service


As the Akim notes, a regional program has been developed to fully utilize the potential of the agro-industrial complex of the region, where 9 priority areas are identified: meat and dairy cattle breeding, sheep breeding, sugar beet, oil and fat, horticulture, potato growing, greenhouse and water management.


“As part of crop diversification, the areas of sugar beet were increased by 2,000 hectares, maize increased by 1,453 hectares, and 707 hectares of fodder crops and vegetables increased by 2,053 hectares,” he said.
It should be noted that this year the first harvest was gathered from intensive gardens, the area of ​​which reached 2.4 thousand hectares, while the total area of ​​the gardens was 24.2 thousand hectares.
“In general, the gross harvest of fruits is 126 thousand tons, of which 65 thousand tons are apples,” the speaker summed up.
