In the framework of the regional media forum, which was held under the curtain of Astana Media Week in Astana, Tatyana Startseva, General Director of TNS Central Asia, presented the dynamics of changes in audiences between media.

According to Tatyana Startseva, about 76% of Kazakhstanis watch TV every day, and the average viewing time is 3.5 hours.

“At least once a day, 76% of the population watches television. 51% of the population use the Internet, 36% listen to the radio and 10% of the population read the press. For three years we see that the numbers are changing, the indicators of the Internet are changing significantly. Over the past three years, the number of these people has grown by 14%. The number of those who watch TV is reduced by 5%. Also, the number of those who read the press is reduced by 5%, the radio is almost constant - the difference is practically not large but the audience is stable, ”said T. Startseva.

As Tatyana Startseva noted in her speeches, with the advent of new technologies, young people spend less and less time watching TV.

“About 200 minutes a day are spent by TV viewers, about 150 minutes are spent by those who watch via the Internet and spend about 2 hours listening to the radio, those who turn on the radio every day. The amount of time people spend on a traditional press is dramatically reduced. Thus, we see that pulverization accounts for about 50% of the total time people spend on the media. In second place is the Internet 32%, radio 15% and the press in paper media 3%. For 3 years, we see that television is reduced by 8%, the share of the Internet is growing + 11% and the radio press actually remains unchanged, ”Startseva concluded.

The results of TNS Central Asia show that young people still watch TV, just do it less often than the older generation.
