Mountain resorts near Almaty will be connected by a cable car. This was announced by Vice Minister of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan Yerlan Kozhagapanov.

“The Almaty region is a unique natural destination located within a 4-hour approach from our main tourist markets: the EU countries, the Persian Gulf, Iran, India, China and the countries of Southeast Asia. In this regard, we have chosen the Mountain cluster of the Almaty region as a key driver for the development of domestic and inbound tourism, ”E. Kozhagapanov said.

He stressed that the mountain cluster includes locations from Kaskelen to Turgen through Shymbulak, Almatau, Butakovka, Tabagan, Forest Fairy Tale, Ak Bulak and includes the infrastructure connecting the cableways and slopes.

According to him, for the construction and modernization of the cluster, the most effective financial model will be used, in which the state will assume 30% of the cost of building the infrastructure to the cluster and 70% of the cost of building the tourist infrastructure itself.

Recall, by 2025 it is planned to develop ski tourism with a breakdown into 3 clusters: East - Turgen mountains, Central - Almaty city and West - Kaskelen mountains. On the territory of 3 clusters will be located 7-10 resorts with a length of ski tracks of up to 250 km and an hourly carrying capacity of up to 50 thousand people.
