“The fire hazard period is coming to an end. On the whole, in the republic, on average, a rather large number of fires occur, especially during the fire hazard period. Every day we recorded 2 fires each, ”said the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yuri Ilyin, in the Central Communications Service.

As Yury Ilyin notes, a lot of work is being done both by the KES of the RK, as well as by local executive bodies. Examples of this are the creation of voluntary fire formations and voluntary fire posts in settlements where the fire fighting service is not provided.

The vice-minister also notes that additional mobile groups have been created to prevent fires in the wooded area.

“Since the beginning of the fire risk period for daily patrols
in forest-steppe areas to limit the stay of individuals and the entry of vehicles into the state forest fund,
and prevent the occurrence of natural fires from the staff of the state fire control, local police service
and forestry institutions created 325 mobile groups with a total of 2 thousand people, ”he said.

Vice Minister cited fire statistics.

“There were 352 wildfires in the republic. Compared with the previous year, we are seeing a decrease of 44%. If in 2017 the area covered by fire was more than 800 hectares, then this year - 168 thousand hectares. The damage caused by fires amounted to 199 million tenge, ”informed Yuri Ilyin.

He also reported that 313 fires occurred in the forest fund of the country. “Compared with 2017, when 502 fires occurred, there is a decrease of more than 30%,” he said.

At the same time, the vice-minister notes that the area of ​​fires, unfortunately, has increased here, despite the reduction in the number of fires.

“On the steppe fires, of which 39 occurred this year, their decrease by 88% is observed, i.e. 4 times decrease in quantity. But despite the number of reduced steppe fires, there is an increase in the area covered by fire. In particular, in the territory of the East Kazakhstan region, the area increased by 1.5 times and in the Kostanay region - by 2 times, ”the speaker said.

According to Yury Ilyin, the adoption of preventive measures and the interaction of the entire civil protection system in the fire-hazardous period of 2018 led to a decrease in the number of forest fires by 38%, and steppe fires by 3 times.

This was facilitated by work with agricultural producers, peasant farms, people living in forests.

According to the vice-minister, 198 joint exercises were held to test the interaction systems of the entire civil protection system in extinguishing natural fires, as well as about 6 thousand gatherings, briefings and round tables covering more than 55 thousand people.
