With the onset of the fire hazard period, on average, 2 fires occur almost daily in forest-steppe arrays.
“The fire service together with local executive bodies are promptly taking measures to extinguish them. About 80% of forest fires are caused by man’s fault, ”Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yury Ilyin told a press conference in the CCS.
This year, the issues of prevention of wildfires were considered at a meeting of the Government (May 22, 2018) and the Interdepartmental State Commission for the Prevention and Elimination of Emergencies (May 15, 2018) with the participation of representatives of local executive and interested government bodies.
According to the speaker, since the beginning of the fire-hazardous period, daily patrols in forest-steppe arrays to limit the stay of individuals and vehicles entering the state forest fund, as well as preventing the occurrence of natural fires 325 mobile groups with a total of 2,051 people.
“The indicated mobile groups conducted 1,899 raids. As a result of the raids, 177 persons were identified and brought to administrative responsibility, amounting to more than 2 million tenge. The list of violations includes unauthorized annealing, uncontrolled fall of dry grass on agricultural fields, burning stubble and non-compliance with fire safety rules in forest and steppe massifs, ”the speaker said.
According to Yuri Ilyin, today the republic has
352 wildfires, a decrease of 44% (2017 - 629).
The area covered by fire amounted to 168 thousand hectares (2017 - 833 thousand hectares), caused material damage from fires to 199 million tenge, (2017 - 110 million tenge). In the forest fund of the country, 313 fires occurred, a decrease of 38% (2017 - 502).
As the speaker noted, despite the decrease in the number of fires, the fire area increased by 9 times (2017 - 16.3 thousand hectares, 2018 - 145 thousand hectares). The largest area was registered due to forest fires that occurred in Zhambyl and Kostanay regions.
“The increase in damage occurred due to forest fires in East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl and Kostanay regions. There were 39 fires in the steppe massifs of the country, a decrease of 88 facts (2017 - 127). The area covered by fire decreased by 37 times. Despite the decrease in the number of steppe fires, the largest increase in the area covered by fire was registered in East Kazakhstan by 1.5 times, ”the speaker said.
Yuri Ilyin informed that about 6 thousand gatherings, briefings and round tables with coverage of more than 55 thousand people were held with agricultural producers, peasant farms, people living in forests.
A total of 198 joint exercises were conducted to work out the interaction systems of the entire civil defense system while extinguishing natural fires.
