Currently, the country has accumulated about 100 million tons of garbage.
This was announced at the press conference devoted to the development of the sphere of processing and utilization of solid household waste in Kazakhstan, the vice minister of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sabit Nurlybayev reported.
“Today, about 100 million tons of garbage has been accumulated in the country. If we talk about "hot spots" of accumulation of garbage, it depends on the regions. The most accumulated waste in the Almaty region. Further in numbers in the Turkestan, Kustanai regions. There is also a lot of garbage in Astana, ”he said.
According to the vice-minister, over 8 months of this year, more than 3 million tons of municipal solid waste were generated, of which about 330 thousand tons of solid waste were recycled and disposed of, which is 10.5% of the total education (2016 - 2.6 %, 2017 - 9%, the plan for 2018 - 11%).
“For information, I inform you that in 2017 the volume of recycling and disposal of MSW was 9%. According to the Concept on the transition of Kazakhstan to a "green" economy, the share of waste processing must be increased to 40% by 2030, and to 50% by 2050, ”said the speaker.
As the vice-minister noted, now more than 130 enterprises are operating in the country, sorting and processing waste, producing more than 20 types of products.
“Positive examples of the interaction of Akimats with private entrepreneurship are the activities of such enterprises as Raduga LLP (SKO), SMF-System Nonwoven Fabric Factory LLP (Kostanay region), Hill Corporation LLP (Shymkent) and others” - the speaker informed.
