From September to November 2018, a Kenneth Caleb Palmer project participant from the United States, among 28 native speakers, will travel to the regions of Kazakhstan to teach students of 9–11 classes of rural hinterland to English. More about his participation in the project, he told for our site.

- I am a student at Harvard University. The main areas of study are Central Asian studies. The subject of my research is related to Kazakhstan. Today it is a great honor for me to become part of the “English for Jastar” program, which launched in Kazakhstan this year.

You are at the beginning of this process. Thanks to this program, it will be easier for Americans to visit your country, as volunteers can tell about it to their friends. I would not have learned about this project if it were not for the efforts of my American representative David Valera. Thanks to him and his team of 4kztours, we would never have heard about this program or would not have had the opportunity to become part of it.

As a person who was fascinated by Central Asia and, more specifically, by Kazakhstan, I believe that these are cultural immersion programs. I am grateful to the local community for the opportunity to teach children the English language - this is an ideal project for gaining American interest and raising awareness about Kazakhstan. And also for all the positive reasons why my fellow Americans should visit your country.

For me, this is the second visit. For the first time, unfortunately, I was only limited to staying in Almaty, but now, thanks to this program, I am very happy and grateful that I can visit many different regions of Kazakhstan and delve into your culture.

I look forward to meeting host families and students I will teach, as well as writing an article that will help in the future for a better understanding of this country.
