The World Health Organization commended the contribution of Kazakhstan doctors. WHO Assistant Director-General Naoko Yamamoto highlighted the comprehensive coverage of our country's medical services.

“40 years ago, the Almaty Declaration on Primary Health Care was first adopted. Many years have passed since then, a lot has been done, but more needs to be done in accordance with the demand of time. A lot of innovations have occurred today in the medical field and we need to think about how to put new technologies in the service of people. And here the experience of Kazakhstan in comprehensive coverage of medical services is interesting and should be useful for the whole world. Kazakhstan is focusing on this. This will be of interest to all other countries, ”said WHO Assistant Director-General Naoko Yamamoto.

Recall that in Astana on October 25-26, 2018, a global conference on primary health care (PHC) will be held, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Alma-Ata. Delegations from over 120 WHO member countries are invited to attend, including the ministers of health, world-renowned experts, patrons and speakers, key nongovernmental organizations, and the first heads of UN agencies.

It is expected that about 1200 participants will take part in it, of which 800 people will be foreign guests.

A conference is held every five years. This year, the World Health Organization proposed holding an event at a political level and adopting a political declaration of primary health care.

In September 1978, a historic conference was held, during which a declaration was adopted, called the United Nations “Magna Carta of World Health”.

The uniqueness of the Alma-Ata WHO Declaration on PHC is that, for the first time in the history of mankind, States recognized human right to health.
