Pilot project on the introduction of artificial intelligence in health care Watson for oncology launched in Kazakhstan.

“On September 14, 2017, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and IBM, within which a pilot introduction of artificial intelligence in health care is planned - Watson for oncology,” said the Deputy Minister of Health of Kazakhstan Olzhas Abishev in the Central Communications Service.

During the pilot testing on the basis of the Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology with the participation of oncologists, 57 treated cases were conducted on 13 types of nosologies, such as ovarian, stomach, lung, breast, bladder, colon intestines, liver, esophagus, prostate gland, rectum, body of the uterus, cervix, thyroid gland.

“According to a survey of doctors, more than 90% of the participants in the pilot approbation gave positive feedback,” Olzhas Abishev said.
