The total volume of installed capacity of operating power plants of renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan is 428 MW.
Kazakhstan has successfully introduced a mechanism for supporting renewable energy sources, based on guaranteed purchase of electricity from renewable energy sources through the settlement and financial center (RFC), the founder of which is KEGOC JSC.
“The total installed capacity of operating power plants of renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan is 428 MW,” said the chairman of the board of KEGOC, Bakytzhan Kazhiyev, during the press conference “Electric power industry: new technologies - new opportunities” in the Central Communications Service.
Bakytzhan Kazhiyev notes such power plants as Lighthouse Solar 1.2, LLP in the Dzhambul region, the total capacity of 100 MW, the First Wind Power Station LLP in the Akmola region, with a capacity of 45 MW.
It should be noted that the market for renewable energy is switching to a competitive way of selecting projects for renewable energy.
“In May and June of this year, the first auctions were held, following which 19 new projects for the construction of solar, wind, biogas and hydropower plants with a total capacity of about 200 MW were selected,” the chairman of the board of KEGOC informed.
As the speaker stressed, the results of the auctions showed a decrease in the auction price to 25% (for wind generation it was 23%, for solar generation - 25.5%, for projects of small hydropower plants - 23.4%).
He also said that in October of this year, it is planned to hold auctions for a total volume of 750 MW.
