Collection of IIN for registration of IMEI-codes of mobile phones is not made in order to monitor citizens. This was stated by the Acting Chairman of the Telecommunications Committee of the MIC RK Vitaly Yaroshenko at a press conference in the CCS, ortcom.kz reports with reference to the MIA "Kazinform."

“The collection of IIN does not go in order to follow all citizens without exception. And in order to protect the citizen on the contrary. Because according to the IIN, the device and the SIM card are linked to this person. It also indirectly helps employees of the Ministry of the Interior to find the telephone, ”said Vitaly Yaroshenko, answering journalists’ questions.

In turn, the head of the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Nurzhan Rakhmetullaev, reported that over 38 thousand cell phones were stolen this year.

“We have, with 100 registered thefts, 23 accounted for cell phones. Cell phones are easily stolen and sold. If we approve the rules from the first of January, it will facilitate our work, and we will not face such a problem as the theft of mobile phones. This year, more than 38 thousand phones were stolen, of which only 13 thousand were removed from the register. We have a base where we can check the phone - whether it was stolen or not, ”explained Nurzhan Rakhmetullayev.
