The chairmanship of the country in the Security Council, the approval of a version of the Latin script for the Kazakh alphabet and the successes of our countrymen the minister called important events.
The most important events of 2018 in the political, social and cultural life were named by the Minister of Information and Communications of Kazakhstan Dauren Abayev during the Open Dialogue program on Khabar TV channel.
“This year has been intense, there have been many victories, many achievements that the people of Kazakhstan can rightly be proud of. I’m sure that 2018 in the annals of independence of Kazakhstan will be one of the turning points for a number of reasons,” said Dauren Abaev.
The Minister called the presidency of our country in the UN Security Council one of the most important events of the outgoing year.
"The Security Council is the main body of the largest international organization in the world that sets the global geopolitical agenda. And this is an unprecedented case when a country that gained its independence less than 30 years ago was able to lead it. What does it say? It shows the authority of our country, about the authority of our President, the effectiveness of a multi-vector international policy, "the head of the Ministry of Information and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted.
The minister called the creation of a new city of republican significance and the Turkestan region another no less important event of the past year.
"Turkestan is one of the spiritual centers of the Turkic world. It is one of the most recognizable tourist and ethnocultural brands of our country, and we must develop it. Make it attractive not only for travelers, tourists, but also for researchers, historians, turkologists, and so on." - said Dauren Abaev.
According to the Minister, the most important event is the signing of the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea, which was the result of 25-year negotiations of the five Caspian states.
"This document not only allows the countries to use the resources of the Caspian Sea, but above all puts an end to the process of shaping the international borders of Kazakhstan. We can say that this historical document is a great legacy for the future generation of Kazakhstanis. After all, they will live in a country fenced off from any territorial claims. "
