For diphtheria: 7 laboratory-confirmed cases of diphtheria have been registered in Ukraine. Situations were observed in Chernihiv, Kyiv and Lugansk regions. According to experts, the situation is associated with extremely low coverage of the population by preventive immunization. The main reason is the refusal of parents to vaccinate children. Immunization coverage against diphtheria in different age groups of children this year in Ukraine is about 40%, with the recommended indicator of the World Health Organization - not less than 95%. Given that the country does not provide the collective immunity of the child population from measles, diphtheria and other infections, the prognosis of infection is high.

On measles: this year a complication of the measles incidence situation is registered in the countries of the European Region, where as of November 1, 2018 more than 70 thousand cases were registered. Including in Ukraine (more than 40 thousand cases), Serbia (almost 5 thousand cases), France (2771), Italy (2599), Russia (2327), Thailand (2149), Georgia (1471), Israel (1401 ), Kyrgyzstan (448) and others. At the same time, 68 deaths from measles were registered. The growing incidence of measles in Europe is attributed to WHO with low coverage of measles vaccination.
