The mandate of the Banking Ombudsman is regulated in the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan «On Banks and Banking Activities in the Republic of Kazakhstan».

The ombudsmen discussed practical issues of human rights protection during the settlement of financial disputes with the participation of the Banking Ombudsman and ways to strengthen his role at the pre-trial stage of dispute settlement.

Following the meeting, the ombudsmen agreed on cooperation and mutual consultations when considering citizens' appeals for human rights protection.

At the meeting, much attention was paid to the observance of the rule of law when considering complaints and appeals of citizens, the need for further improvement of legislation in the field of protection of citizens' rights in the field of public services, including with the participation of other entities involved in the pre-trial settlement of banking disputes.

Elvira Azimova spoke about the creation by the Ombudsmen of the Turkic states of the Association of Ombudsmen and national human rights institutions. This association aims to unite the efforts of not only human rights ombudsmen, but also other national human rights institutions.
